It is the Cave Spring Baconfest and we hope you will make plans to join us! There will be a car show as well as arts and crafts vendors. It is going to be a great day in Cave Spring, Georgia! You don't want to miss it! Kids 12 and under get in FREE! 13 & up is a $5 charge at the gate! Want to be a taste tester for the delicious bacon samples? Get there early! There are a limited number of tasting tickets available. Tasting Tickets available to the first 100 PAID adults in line. Line up begins at 11:00. Tasting will begin at 11:30! So make sure you get there early, find the line and wait to taste all the delicious bacon treats! And if you miss out on a ticket, thats okay! Our food vendors all have bacon items. You may compete and sell the meat that you compete in (Boston Butts, Brisket, Ribs). Along with the meat you compete in you may sell side items (ex: BBQ, Mac/Cheese/Slaw plate). Three weeks of advance voting starts Monday on a $110 million SPLOST package and seats on the Rome and Cave Spring governing boards. All Floyd County residents registered by Oct. 10 can weigh in on the special purpose, local option sales tax package. Those who live within the city limits of Rome will also see six city commission posts on their ballots. Cave Spring residents will also chose two council members. Early in-person voting runs through Nov. 3 but those casting absentee ballots have a smaller window than they’ve had in the past. A new Georgia law sets Oct. 27 as the deadline to request an absentee ballot from their elections office. They must be returned by the time polls close on election day. Previous Next

160 miles of recreation opportunities for hikers, cyclists, horseback riding < Back Trails (Pinhoti, Silver Comet, Trail of Tears and more) 160 miles of recreation opportunities for hikers, cyclists, horseback riding The Pinhoti (Creek for the turkey's home) Trail is one of the Southern Appalachian Mountain's premier long distance hiking trails, offering over 335 miles in trails through Alabama and Georgia. In Georgia 160 miles of recreation opportunities for hikers, backpackers, horse-riders, and mountain bikers in the state of Georgia. It also serves as an excellent connector trail, linking the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama to the Appalchian Trail atop Springer Mountain, via the Benton MacKaye Trail found on the South Fork of Jacks River within the Conasauga Ranger District. In Cave Spring, the Pinhoti trail runs through Rolater Park. The trailheads for the Pinhoti Trail are located just outside of town, southwest of Cave Spring. The trail extends up through Coosa, follows Taylor’s Ridge to Dalton to north Ellijay before eventually linking to the Appalachian Trail. The Pinhoti is the longest thru-trail in Georgia at at over 165 miles. Access to The Silver Comet Trail is a mere 9 miles from Cave Spring in Cedartown, Georgia. The Trail of Tears The U.S. Bicycle Route 21 also runs through Cave Spring connecting Atlanta to Chattanooga. MapMyRide.com offers 30 mile to 100 mile loops that begin and end in Rolater Park.
